Telescope Eyepieces?

My father-in-law just gave me his old Meade ETX-60AT telescope. The problem is, it's missing both eye pieces and user manual. I managed to download the user manual but the eye pieces are still eluding me. How would I go about getting replacements? Do the eye pieces HAVE to be the same brand? It came with a 25mm (1.25") and 9mm lenses, do I HAVE to get these or can I choose others? How will I know what I buy will fit in my telescope? I'm new at this and could sure use the help.

Try www.telescopes.com or do a search online for telescope eyepieces. Also Meade has a website and they can also give you a good deal on eyepieces.

Yes, a Barlow lens will double the magnification of any eyepiece so 10mm + 2x barlow will give the equivalent of a 5mm eyepiece. Since you already have a 20mm eyepiece you might prefer a 2.5x or 1.8x barlow, so that you aren't duplicating the 10mm with the 20mm. Just don't buy the very cheapest barlows though, they will degrade the performance of the eyepieces.
