Is there a name for the little part of the peanut left in the bottom of a can of shelled peanuts?
It's like the peanut's "belly button." It's the point where the halves of the seed (ova?) once connected to the plant stem.

Embryo plant. The major part of the peanut is its seed leaves or cotyledons. The small area you are talking about will develop into the peanut plant when the seed germinates.
