I need help from someone who knows alot about DVD errors messages on computers?
I can't play DVD's on my computer no more. I used to play them all the time and they would automatically play in REAL PLAYER ,but not any more.What does it mean when it talks about DVD decoder? What's a DVD decoder?,and it say's I'm using Nero 6 or 7,which isn't compatible with Microsoft. What is "NERO 6 or 7" any way? I don't know what to do to solve this problem. Can any one donate your time and help a lady out with her computer/DVD issue?PLEASE?

ok nero is not free except for a trial version. in my opinion its also the best and most complete burning software. if your dvd played in real before you must have uninstalled the 3rd party decoder such as powerdvd or windvd or got a new pc that didnt have a 3rd party decoder installed. you can get the codec alone by installing from a codec pack like k-lite codec pack. although copy protection is part of the decoder its true main function is to do as it says decode video. you can get the codec pack here. good luck.

OK a DVD decoder is a program that removes protection from a DVD so you can burn them.
Nero is a burning program to burn to Disc.
maybe you download or installed a program and its trying to open your movies up instead of real player.
Go to real player in program files open the file with the .exe this will open your real player, then in the option make real player the default.
also when you put a DVD in your computer you can right click on your drive and go open with and browse the real player.

Ok, Nero is a "free" DVD/CD burning software. I find it's annoying.
A DVD decoder is a software addon that allows your media player to read the data on DVD movies, which is write-protected and other stuff.
If your RealPlayer isn't working anymore, try going to Microsoft.com and getting their Windows Media Player and their decoder addons.
