Parvo is a bad virus that infects dogs. People can NOT get Parvo, but may be able to carry around infected feces on their shoes. (Clean your shoes.)
An adult dog can die of Parvo, if he hasn't had his annual shots. A vaccinated dog cannot transmit Parvo.
Your children are not in danger, but make sure that they wash their hands and clean off their shoes, so they don't infect other pups. ... But you are already doing that, anyway.
What is Parvo ?

Parvo is a virus that attaches to the intestinal lining and multiplies so fast it causes symptoms so severe that the pup actually can die from the symptoms (diarrhea/vomiting/dehydration) before the virus runs its course. Having said that, a dog over two years old (unless it is internally a freak) does not have the same cells present in the intestine, and therefore will seldom even show a symptom at all. Dogs who come in contact with the normal strain of parvo after this age can become carriers for a couple of weeks during the time the virus is active in the intestines, but will not actually get sick. There are strains of parvo that can affect an older dog,,,, but these strains are called by other names. So the answer is...if a dog survives until 2 years, it most likely has a normal immune system (or else it would not survive long anyway) and will show little or no symptoms of parvo contact, but can still pass it to other dogs/puppies. ADD...They vaccinate yearly for a couple of reasons, one is to get you in the door for a check up, and another is because parvo shots are not alone. There are several other virus' that are also in the shot, which an adult dog CAN get.

This information is false. In the spring of 2013 my pastor's wife had parvo. There are two types: one with vomiting and diarrhea and one with hypothermia. She had the later. For months she was in so much pain she wanted to die. She could only sleep for 45 min a night and she would wake up in pain and shivering. The pain meds were for every 6 hours she only got relief for maybe 1 hour. She could no longer cook or do any type of work. Her family had to shower her because she was too weak to pick up a towel to dry off with. They had to feed her on the couch. Christmas morning she received a miracle and her health turned around. Still today she has symptoms but it is better. They believe she got it while mulching. She must have had a small cut that the parvo was able to get into and work it's way into the blood.

you canot get parvo.. you can carry the germs on your hands and clothing and pass it along to another dog that way.
Your adult dog should be vaccinated.. vaccines are the best protection. Vaccines are not 100% tho.. adult dogs can get parvo, but no where near as likely as a puppy. An adult with a compromised immune system (old, sick or stressed) can get parvo.
Your children should be encouraged to wash their hands after playing with the puppies to help stop the spread of parvo.. its good hygene anyways to wash your hands after handling your pets.

No, your children are in no danger.
Canine parvo is just a danger to dogs, usually puppies who have not been immunized or old dogs with weak immune systems. It is very serious and attacks the lining of the pup's stomach, it can cause death unless immediate hydration and antibiotics are given - very serious disease for puppies, not for kids.
Parvo is present just about everywhere, most dogs have some limited immunity to it and don't get sick - people never do.

There is a human parvo virus; However, it can only be passed from human to human and not to animals. There is an animal parvo virus, but it can't be spread to humans. So you and your kids are SAFE from Parvo Virus.
An adult dog can get this if not immunized against it. Since it is spread from animal to animal via feces, your child could pick up and play with a puppy and a bit of feces you can't even see could get on his or her hands and then she comes home and handles her dog at home who licks her hands.
I wouldn't worry about it as far as your adult dog goes if you have kept up with that dogs' shots.

No you can't get parvo yourself.. Adult dogs can get parvo.. If their immune system isn't strong, or if they haven't been properly vaccinated.
Your children aren't in any danger.. But if you have a dog your dog is maybe in danger, if he isn't properly vaccinated, or has a week immune system. You can have your dog tested at the vets, he can tell you how much of an immunity your dog has against parvo currently.

Your children are not in danger - - but they could carry and spread the disease to other animals, not just dogs.
HOWEVER, !!!!!!!!! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
worms can be transferred, especially tapeworms,
and fungus or ringworm......
Mom, I bet you've heard of children playing in the sand box and picking up worms ? It's from feces or fleas.
This is no problem IF the puppies are healthy and these are NOT HEALTHY !
Has the neighbor TAKEN THE PUPS and DAM TO THE
VET TO BE TREATED ? ? ? ? ?
I MEAN WHO IS RESPONSIBLE HERE ????
You need to do something for the sake of the neighborhood children and the dogs.
Please call the City Animal Control and the Health
Department.....
and tell them these pups have an infectious disease and
you are v e r y frightened that other puppies and dogs in the
area could get it EVEN if they are pups or adults that have
had vaccines. Tell them you are afraid of fleas and worms
being spread to your children. . . . you weren't thinking until
experienced "dog people" told you!
Parvo is like a flu virus, there are different strains. Also, you never know how well a dog's immune system is working to protect itself against disease.
While talking to animal control ask them about license, rabies, and spay & neuter regulations...........
This should get the pups and dam checked out BEFORE THEY DIE or HARM Children or other Animals.
Please. Tomorrow's Monday. Look the numbers up today so you can call ASAP.
THANK YOU !
You are a geat Mom !
and
Thank You! for caring about these innocent little puppies.
My hat is off to you, Madam !

Yes, any dog that hasn't been vaccinated can contract parvo. Some dogs never acheive full immunity, even though they've been vaccinated.
