I have been gaining weight even though I am now more active and watching what I eat more than I was.?

What could cause this and what could I do about it?

it could be because you're watching your diet too much, and cutting too many calories, which is slowing your metabolic rate.

try upping the duration/intensity of your workouts and gradually adding a few more calories.
