Dine and dashed,..... what are the consequences?

Ok, so I got mad at the waitress and asked for the manager but she kept giving me excuses saying that her manager was busy,.... I asked the greeter but she decided to go along with her co worker. I told them I was upset over the service and if they can give me a discount, but of course, they said no becuz the manager was not there. So I left, when they didnt notice me and my sister N law,... I went on yahoo answers to see if i cant get more ino but nothing was uselful.

I did this last night at a new "On the border" resturant in CA.

What can happen to me?

I didnt leave my wallet or cell phone behind and I sat outside the whole time

Update:

Reason: I arrived around 7:30, around 8:20 I asked AGAIN for my order and the waitress lost the ticket order. So we ended up eating around 9 pm

Update 2:

Hey abercrombie_jackie,....

I hope you were my waitress lat night,.... cuz u were the joke of the night,...

left nothing behind and gave no info, you're fine. just dont go back there for a loooong time, if not ever lol.

btw, next time, only ask for the manager once, if you keep persisting, you'll probably leave a lasting image of yourself. not saying it in a bad way, but they'll be likely to remember you more , if you go back there soon, that is.

also, good for you, i cant stand when servers treat the customers poorly and expect nothing to happen to them, it's people job, people! learn some manners

Not really a proud thing to do. You should have paid for the food and not leave a tip. Next time get the waitress and hostesses name and demand to speak to the manager the next day over the phone or call their corporate office.

To Insure Proper Service- TIPS- that's what it's for. Therorectically you could be charged with simple theft, fined and maybe put on probabtion and likely banned from the restaurant. I'd stay away from that place for several months.

What you did was theft, plain and simple.

If you were mad at the waitress you were entitled to not leave a tip. However if you order and eat the food you are morally and legally responsible to pay for it.

If you are caught, you'll be charged with petty theft. You'll likely be banned from that restaurant, and depending on the size of the community you might find your name circulated to other restaurants in the area, virtually guaranteeing that you will not get service there either.

If they got your licsene plate number you can possibly face an arrest.

But let me say, no matter how terrible the service was, dining and dashing is one really F**KED up thing to do. Next time, instead of doing that, just raise HECK until the manager arrives. Sounds like the server and hostess didn't WANT to get the manager. Usually, if the customer is pis*ed off, then the manager will give some sort of discount.

I'm a server, and if I had an upset customer I would definatly try to resolve it myself or have the manager resolve it, no matter what.

Can I continue saying how incredably F**KED up you are for doing that? I really hope you get bitten back in the @ss for this! UGH!!!

I hope someday your poor pathetic excuse for a human works in a restaurant and know exactly WHAT IT'S LIKE to deal with people LIKE YOU!

If anything, you didn't need to tip the server. I would much rather you NOT tip me then to walk out on a bill!

*edit* hey photographer! it's called SPELLCHECK! and No I wasn't your server. Cause if I was, you would have left happy!

ps Go watch the movie 'Waiting'

and sorry to go off on you. but it happened to me once (for absolutly no reason, they got perfect service).

I htink you should be fine, I don't think they could identify you if you didn't leave a credit card or something. Morally it's wrong we all know that, they provided you with a service, and you ate that service good or bad, so you have to pay. Whether you can get a discount for bad service is totally up to the restaurant, I personally would have waited for the manager, but if I had been waiting a long time and had been treated rudely by staff I would have left too.

It is theft and you have no way of knowing what security these eateries have. If they have cameras on the walkway or parking lot you can be identified and charged it is theft for a service no matter how crappy you think that service is. If you did not drive or you think there is no way for you to be identified guess what- if you do a runner, you still have a risk of being chased by the service staff, and the cops being called on your ***.

If they have a way of identifying you you can be charged with petty theft I think. You received services without paying, but I seriously doubt that they will track you down for a hog and jog.

if i were you, i would cancel my order from the time u knew that they lost it. it's more punishing to leave the place after cancelling the order than asking for the manager and so.
