Windows Mail setup help!!!?

On Vista:

I am looking to create a new account. I've never done it before, so I need some help.

I am on AIM if that would be easier than typing your answer, so just post ur sn and I'll talk with you about it.

Anyway, what I need help on is this server stuff. I have no idea which to choose. I use bellsouth.net as my main email if that tells you something. Next there's Yahoo! and AOL email that I use.

Which do I choose: POP3, or a different one?

And I want my email address to be sportsfan89b@cfbfanatics.com

HELP!!!!!!

Oh, and is there anything that I can have on my desktop that notifies me of my email on bellsouth/Yahoo!?

To answer your last question first, Yahoo has a "new email" widget that might be what you're looking for in a desktop notification.

However, I'm using AT&T Yahoo as my ISP. There are many compatibility issues between AT&T Yahoo and Vista. A lot of the Vista features just won't work with Yahoo and a lot of Yahoo's add-ons won't work with Vista (but work just great with XP.) You might want to check with Bellsouth if they have any known Vista issues you need to be aware of. Here are the general steps to set up Windows Mail. Before you do anything, you'll need this information (available from your ISP):

    - your email address

    - Type of server your ISP uses for incoming emails (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) (Most use POP3 but double-check!!)

    - The internet name used by the ISP's incoming mail server

    - The internet name used by the ISP's outgoing mail server

    - If the outgoing mail server needs authentication

    - Your user name and password for your email account

Select start > email or start > all programs > windows mail. The Internet Connection Wizard should fire up.

    1. Enter your display name (the name people will see when you send an email). Click next.

    2. Enter your email address. Click next.

3, Now the Wizard will want the info you gathered above. Click next when finished.

    4. The Wizard will ask for your account details (user name and password. Click next and finished.

Again, check with Bellsouth for any known compatibility issues. I had so many problems with AT&T I finally removed Vista and went back to XP. I could not create multiple email accounts. I had to create other user accounts for each email provider I wanted to use.

hi, you will get this info out of your ISP - they are completely based on your ISPs servers. What you attempt is googling something like this: tiscali mail server settings (needless to say upload on your ISP) wish you get them!
