a CC is a "CarbonCopy" anybody in your "To:" field and "CC:" field sees who is getting this email. a BCC is a Blind Carbon Copy. It is like a hidden recipient. the people in the TO and the CC field do not see who else is getting the email but the BCC gets it and sees all "TO" and "CC".

Imagine you and a coworker are arguing via email over something, you want to keep your boss in the loop without hinting your coworked that you are doing so. By simply adding your boss to the BCC field, not only you will keep the boss in the loop but make sure your coworked does not know of you going behind his back.
