How would you spend a day in Miami?

I am driving down to Miami from West Palm Beach in the morning for business, I am planning on spending the afternoon in Miami before heading back to West Palm Beach. What should I see what should I do. Other than the beach, I am sure I will be doing plenty of that in Palm Beach.

Update:

I am going to let this go to a vote. Thanks for answering everyone.

There is not that much to do in the afternoon in Miami which im sure you can't do in WPB...the action is more at night...You might check out South Beach though and walk around, shop, eat, or see if there is any kind of daytime entertainment going on...or check out downtown Miami and Bayside(it's right beside it)-there is shopping, food, live entertainment, and it's by the ocean...or go take a stroll in Coconut Grove...It all depends on where you are going to be in Miami and how late you leave before you head back home...there is lots to do you just have to be at the right place at the right time...which is usually late...

Well as said before Miami is more of a night place but for the afternoon I would go to Miami Beach. Park your car at the city parking lot on 17th street before you hit washington ave. Parking is only $1 an hour! Cheapest parking in Dade County. Than walk down Lincoln Road, washington Ave and Ocean Drive and find something to eat and drink and just relax. Thats what Miami Beach is good for in the afternoon it is good for relaxing. If you were here at night it would be a different story.

    Have a good time!

It depends on where your business meeting is being held. If it's in the Coral Gables then I would just spend the day there. I would probably go to Books & Books and have a salad and glass of wine while I buy an overly expensive book. Or, go to the spa at the Biltmore for a massage or a quick swim in their pool or at Venetian Pool. If my meeting were in the downtown area, I would go to the museum or library. I would go to the courthouse and listen in to some of the trials. Check out all the new bdgs going up on Biscayne Blvd. Spend it at Brickell or Coconut Grove at one of the cafes. Go to Fairchild Tropical Gardens and enjoy the butterflies. You can go sailing or windsurfing on the bay. If it's in Miami Beach, then I would go to Lincoln Road or Ocean Drive.

The only resemblance between South Beach & Palm Beach is that they both have sand, hot weather & front on the Atlantic Ocean. Other than that they are on different planets.

Walk down Ocean Drive and eat lunch at whatever place looks most enticing. Then walk off your meal strolling down the beach. Make sure you dip at least your toes in the water. Have fun!
