height doesn't make a diff....well it does sometimes. but all that matters is that u work hard....do ur best and keep trying!

To be honest, it'd be really hard. You'd have to find some low level Division I schools to look at you. Many low D1 schools are only as good as D3, so it shouldn't be that bad.
The important thing is how high you jump. If you don't jump that high, especially if you're only 5'8", you definitely won't make the team as an OH.
However, there are basically no height restrictions for a libero/defensive specialist. So you actually can start out as a defensive specialist until after a year or two, if your coach likes your hitting and you improve yourself physically, he/she can put you in as a OH.

You will have a tough time getting coaches to even look at you. If you have a good vertical jump and a good swing, you could get some of the smaller D1 schools to look at you. You may be able to start at a good junior college and then transfer. If you have a good career at a junior college, you may get more of a look at the D1 schools.

I know some one that plays for Dayton Ohio (D1) and she is around 5 3 but she's a ds...if you have a good vertical and you're a SMART hitter I'm sure you could play.
