7 Month Old is taking less formula...?

My 7 month old son has gradually reduced his formula intake from about 24-32 oz per day to about 16 oz per day over the last couple of weeks.

He does not drink anything but formula and water (when it's hot outside) and he eats three meals a day - Breakfast: Cereal and Fruit (Stage 2 stuff); Lunch: Vegetables; Dinner: some Vegetables and some fruit. It's been quite hot lately so I've been giving him water. He seems to prefer it over the formula. (He'll swat the formula bottle away from his mouth, but reach for the water bottle).

Is this normal? Is he getting enough formula?

P.S. there is no sweetener or juice in the water or formula

I just asked my sons doctor the same question {he is six and half months and has been going thought the same thing} and he said babies this age should drink 17 - 20oz a day. So try to squeeze one oz somewhere.

he is probably just thirst. water is more satisfying than formula when they are thirsty. and better in the hot months still try to give him the formula but if he refuses than make sure he drinks the water to stay hydrated. don't worry he is still getting the nutrients he needs from the baby food

I would ask the doctor if you are concerned, but I think it's normal. Seems like mine did that. Once they eat more solids they don't usually drink as much formula.

all babys go thru this once they are on foods, my daughter is doing the same thing, and she is also 7 months, as long as your dr. says hes healthy don;t worry about it

Sounds okay to me since you are increasing his food intake.
