it just locks in the moisture but if you're using a bad product, it could be breaking down your skin too - make sure it's high end or more natural - or just use plain vegetable oils on the skin, the best stuff for the skin is the stuff that you can eat because the skin ingests anything you put on it

It is a good idea to put on the lotion right after your shower. If you have dry skin the lotion will help keep in the moisture on your skin. Some lotion now and then is a good idea.
Source(s): If you have dry itchy skin using lotion will help you sleep better. - 1 decade ago
yeah i do it. The benefit is that body lotion hydrates your skin, because after using soap it becomes very dry. It is not necessary to put body lotion after every bath, especially if you use shower gel or shower cream. Put lotion when u feel you a need!

For a few days, I tried putting lotion once after shower and once before i sleep, my skin became really smooth. Even after i stopped doing so for 1 week. I think it moisturises the skin which is important stop our skin from turning dry, and prevent it from developing wrinkles or becoming scaly.

Yup. I do it because my skin can get dry easily. I use it most often before i go out before wearing shorts/skirts because my legs look dry and cracked and stuff. I would think it would be a good idea to do it all the time so your skin wouldn't be dry... but if you put too much, I would think that your skin would go from too dry, to too oily.

Applying lotion can moisturise your skin, especially those areas (like elbows, thighs, etc) which are usually left un-pampered. Using lotions with aromatheraphy effect (like lavender, citrus etc) can also relax or stimulate you.

My great wife will come out of the shower with lotion and will start to rub it on herself...LOL
Is she crazy!!!! I am sitting right there and would be more than happy to rub lubricant all over her!!!!!!
My advice is to find someone who will rub you down everytime you come out of the shower!
