NIr Rosen is an American, but speaks and looks like an Iraqi enough to pass as one. He has many insights, particularly as he can sit on the American side as well.

There have also been many Iraqi Bloggers reporting first hand. The most famous was Riverbend who has now fled to Jordan along with millions of her countrymen, If you go back to the beginning of her blog and read forward you have a pretty good picture.

when i visited Irak in the 80's to attend university, the country was modern, about half the teachers female, Christians lived in peace and even celebrated Christmas openly. The hospitals were very modern, I know, I was treated in one. Power, water were always on, markets active, and lots of smiles everywhere. I saw many Mercedes cars along with other pricey vehicles.

Today my Iraki friends both Christian and Muslim tell me America has brought death and destruction to the country.

I wonder if Americans would like to be occupied and a coalition of the unwilling removed W in the name of 'democracy', have their womenfolk raped and their people murdered, their land destroyed and pillaged, have foreigners dictate their future government and foreigners controlling their resources? Even better, how about ignoring the wishes of the citizens of said occupied country and told how to live work and act? That might be a better question!

I am glad that America helped us get rid of Saddam, but not happy at all to see that America, but not glad at all that America brought terrorism into Iraq.

The majority don't have running water or electricity and you think they will have the ability to connect to the net???? Under Saddam you would have had more chance of hearing their views.
