Is it low brow to pay dutch at an expensive restaurant?

To elaborate I am going to Sunday brunch with another person to celebrate our birthdays.

She already knows that we will each pay for our own meal.

We'll split the valet parking because we will be riding in her car.

Sounds like you have a clear understanding of the ground rules prior to going which is good.

I don't think the restaurant cares.

So no, it's not low brow.

Not at all! Simply know that it might be better for you to decide who will use their credit card, and have the other person pay that person in cash: using two credit cards or fumbling with cash at a dining room table in an expensive restaurant can look very tasteless (i.e.: "No, you take the change, it's okay," or counting and recounting, etc.).

Have one person pay the whole bill either in cash or by credit card, and then afterwards, the other person can reimburse them for their half in cash or by some other method. That way, you avoid the hassle of splitting the bill while you are in the restaurant.

    Sounds fine, Happy Birthday!

It is perfectly fine to go dutch--but if you are concerned about how it may or may not look to the restaruant, go for one check and each pay your portion--don't forget to tip accordingly.

No, it's perfectly fine to split the bill at any restaurant.

Sounds like a good plan to me...split the tip as well.

I worked in a fine dining restaurant, and it happens more times than you would think.

No one looks down on it. As long as they are getting paid, right?

Just be sure you each leave your own tip.

One pay for the meal and one pay for the valet and tell each other Happy Birthday.

If she is driving you should pay for the parking.
