Cleaning Person in Puerto Rico...?
My husband and I are stumped. We (I) are looking for a cleaning person to come in to my home. I don't want to use an agency - for that usually costs double. I'm not from PR and hubby hasn't lived here for 28 years so he doesn't know either.
We are trying to figure out what to pay someone. We have a small home (if you are from or have visited im sure you know what we mean by small). Standard 3bed 2 bath. This is a rental place but I hate cleaning - I don't want to do it anymore - so I need someone reliable. What's a good price to pay someone to come in and do the kitchen, both bathrooms, the office and the guest bedroom, along with dusting, vacuuming and mopping all the floors? Any help is appreciated.. thanks.

I was working for a cleaning company and the building assigned to me had some people who due to their jobs had not much time for house cleaning. I charged $45 a day. That included washing, ironing, all cleaning of all rooms and even feeding the dogs.
There are persons whom will clean homes for a modest price depending on how big is the house and the condition it is in. If there is tooo much to clean the person can charge a bit more. I charged $45 and the woman thought it was too much. There were 5 bedrooms. 2 bathrooms, kitchen (real grubby), livingroom growing dustballs everywhere, back yard (total disaster), well I wanted more but only 45 was her max.
You will have to check in the town where your place is, then see from there some person who can do the job. Ask for refrences, and agree on a reasonable pay. Also agree on how often you want to clean the house and be specific in details of the job.
If the place need cleaning 2-3 times a week, and you say it is small, then maybe $100 - $150 should do. This is because the job is a big responsability on the one who cleans. Also you will have to provide with the cleaners, mops, brooms, and other need to get the job done. So in a long run maybe you will be paying more. There is here Molly Maid who will do house cleaning. They cover Caguas and the Metro area 1-787-747-1045
Maybe they can cover where your home is and charge less because they may have their own cleaning supplies.

Here in Texas you pay around $60-$70 for a house that is 2,000 - 3,000 square feet each time they visit. Usually the houses are 4 rooms and 2 1/2 bath with gameroom and other areas.
The thing is that you probably are hiring an illegal alien for that price. Cleaning services would be probably twice that amount.
The reality is that in Puerto Rico you can get cheap labor as well. There is also a lot of illegals from Dominican Republic that will work for less than the minimum per hour.
The problem you will face is to find a trusted person as with this type of service you basically have to open your doors to the person. Sometimes you need to let them in while you are not home.
You can do a background check, but if you get someone that has not been in the island for long you might not get a true picture of who the person is. Also, most likely you can't get good info to do the search (Social Security/Name/Residence/ETC)
If you get a referral from someone you know it would be the best way of hiring them. Otherwise, stick with a cleaning company service.
My house in PR is about 1,500 to 1,800 square foot (3/2). I would probably would not pay more than $40 - $50 for it.
Cheers!

I would say 200 dollars everytime they clean all of that. There is no set price but if anyone there does that for a living they need to eat and have a roof over their head.
