Gloucester water company made £500,000,000 profit last year?
During the recent floods many people were left without running water for many days. The water company has refused to refund any of their water rates but have agreed to donate £3,000,000 to help restore the Goucester area. Less than 1% of their profits for last year. Is this fair ? should Ofwat force them to do more?

Its obviously not fair, but in this day and age they are more than likely to get away with it!
Its the same with the environment agency, with the following news coming out lately:
"
Senior executives at the beleaguered Environment Agency received five-figure performance bonuses shortly before the recent floods, it has been disclosed.
The Sunday Times reported that the agency's chief executive, Baroness Young, received a 15% bonus of £24,000 on top of her £163,000 salary.
Eight other executives, including the director of water
management, received awards averaging 10% of their salaries.
"
Were they asked to surrender their bonuses after the recent flooding disasters, where their flood prevention measures failed miserabley?
Of course not, and yet the still insist they don't have the money to improve the defences to the neccessary standard. (Maybe because they have given huge amounts of money to their staff in bonuses perhaps?)
If it was me getting the bonuses, after seeing the devastion caused by the floods on tv, i`d morally feel that I couldn't keep the bonus!
