1. Proterozoic - Very thin crust, widespread volcanism, growth of premitive oceans with submarine volcanism and sedimentation. Major granitic emplacement, ultrabasic volcanism including kimberlitic volcanism. Begining of life
2. Paleozoic - Begining of complex lifeforms and their prolific disversification of species. Begining of oceanic stratification, stabilisation of atmosphere, gradual evolution of terrestrial plant life and explosion in plant species. Formation of huge coal deposits. Accretion of micro plates into one massive supercontinent of 'Pangea'. Crustal thickening and reduction in ultrabasic volcanism.
3. Mesozoic - Breakup of Pangea and beginning of modern plates, widepread rifting, submarine volcanism, period of relative epirogenic stability. Mass extinction of species at the Permo-Triassic boundary. Oceanic stratification, prolific growth in veriety of oceanic lifefroms and evolution of pure land based animal life from amphibians to massive reptiles (dinosaurs). Stratified and high oxygen of atmosphere. First time animals took to sky (flying dinosaurs).
Second major episode on ultrabasic volcanism.
Ended with the most remarkable of mass extinctions and formation of young fold mountains of Alps and Himalayas. Large K-Plume event shaping up the Indian Ocean and closing the Tethys.
4. Cenozoic - Himalayan orogeny. Thickening of continental crust, significant reduction in volcanism, failed rifts, reduction is atmospheric oxygen levels, prolific evolution and diversification in mammalian life forms and development of Primates leading to human life. Stratification on ocean. Begining of the cycles of ice-ages and interglacials.
