Virago 250 Cruising?

My sister (125lbs) wants to know if the Virago will make a good "road trip" bike to ride along with me on my V-Star 650. What are your opinions?

After 2 hrs her butt will wear out.

The suspension on these smaller cruisers just isn't up to par with the bigger more comfortable cruisers.

The Virago will be just fine to ride along with you and your V-Star, I'm assuming that by road trip you're not talking about cross country or anything like that, and the gearing on your V-Star is so low that I know you won't be doing any high speed riding that the Virago can't keep up with, I don't know why, but Yamaha geared your V-Star so low that you only have a top speed of about 85-90 MPH, and since the gearing on the Virago is much higher, and your sister is such a tiny little thing, both bikes will have a pretty comparable top speed, the only time when there might be a noticeable difference is when you're riding up steep grades. Also, the previous persons bike is no where near close enough for comparison, the Virago has a very comfortable seat, and that's where the comfort is in long distanc cruising, NOT the suspension, I assure you, that after 2 hours on any kind of bike, your butt will be ready for a rest stop. I hope this helped you.

It depends on how far and how fast you want to travel.

The Virago 250 can cruise at 55 - 60 mph no problems. But I would not try to take it on a freeway. Also it is a pretty lightweight bike and the turbulence from passing 18-wheelers will rock it significantly more than your bike when driving with such traffice.

Also the seat on this bike is pretty narrow and she may find it uncomfortable after about 30 - 45 minutes.

Other than these things, a road trip of about 100 - 150 miles is not too bad.

Just got one for my daughter. The Virago is an impressive small cruiser. A lot will depend on Sis and how long a day on the road is. A heavier bike makes for a less tiring ride, too.
