Question for Navy CPO wives...?
My husband just got selected for Chief, and we're very happy. He's been in the Navy over 17 years, and he's been waiting for this a long time. My question...just after your husbands were selected, how hectic/crazy/busy was his / your schedule?

He will be gone with his other Chief Selects for the entire month on August. Don't count on him for anything. It is a 24 hour a day process and he will be too tired to do anything other than sleep when he is home. This is part of the initiation process don't ruin it for him by bitching about not being their for you and the family.

the higher up he goes, the less busy he will be, believe me, i know. unless he is cheating on you!,..just kidding. He may get a little more gray hair. Chief's don't work anyway, do you really think a Senior Chief is going to do anything!

First they're selected then they do initiation.
Expect dramatic changes in his type of work and hours put into work. Chiefs primarily work as the managerial type. He may be in/directly in charge of the lives of dozens of sailors conus and oconus.
More responsible breeds more compensation and time.

It all depends on were you are stationed.
More responsibility and longer hours is the norm.
