well that only means one thing

in windows vista check the burning speed

if the burning speed is something like 2x or 4x

it is gonna take a long time

for cds i burn at a speed of 40x with blank cds that can be burn

    at 50x

with a speed of 40x my cds take less than 5 minutes to burn

and for dvds is the same thing check the speed

but for dvds i burn at a speed of 16 x

and my dvds took like 5-15 minutes to burn

you can also check the speed at which you are burning cds in windows xp

but it also depends on your hardware in my case my dvds burner can burn at a maximum speed of 16x

and it can burn cds at a maximum speed of 40x this means that if you want to burn at a speed of 52x in a cd burner that can only burn at a maximum speed of 40x you wont be able to do this

so if your dvd burner can only burn at a speed of 30x

you cannot burn cds at 40x

to burn cds and dvds try roxio because nero has bugs when burning dvds

    http://www.roxio.com/enu/default.html?ccid=google&...

i burn cds with windows media player 11

and i burn dvds with convertxtodvd

    http://www.vso-software.fr/products/convert_x_to_d...

i dont like nero for this process

Nope. The is the two you do not have DVD burning utility or you're putting AVI format movies on the dvd disc's without changing them to DVD format with a Video Converter.

You really need a program to all this.

I have tried many programs to make DVD's but the best ones for me, which are pretty fast are:

Winavi converter, to convert your movie files to DVD (vob)

Prassi Ones, to burn the DVD files to Disc.

If you need help locating the programs, let me know

Well, you have to consider, maybe they were different drives in use?
