Nicotine gum question...........?
My new hubby used to chew tobacco, but he has been using the nicotine gum for over a year now. He chews 4 pieces of 2mg many times a day. ( I am talking several boxes of 90/week). What are the risks? I have tried to wean him off with regular gum, but no luck. Any ideas?

The nicotine replacement therapy (NRT) industry want smokers to believe that a natural poison is medicine, that its can be used as a therapy, and that it is somehow different from the tobacco than the nicotine found in any other nicotine product. The truth is that the pharmaceutical industry buys its nicotiana from the exact same growers as the tobacco industry. The pharmaceutical industry is making billions selling nicotine to nicotine addicts.
Studies have shown that after six months only 7% of NRT uses have quit the use of nicotine (addiction to the NRT product is very common). The success rate for cold turkey quitters stand at 22%.
It appears that your husband have simply replaced one source of nicotine for another. At this point, there is less than a 1% quiting success rate using NRT - now or in the future, it's already proven that it will not work in this case.
Go cold turkey. It has to be a personal choice.
Those who refuse to allow any nicotine back into their bloodstream have 100% odds of remaining nicotine free today.

Persuade him politely, with reasoning might be he will improve, however old habits die hard, you will have to be tactful, this all you can do.
All the best.
