What would you do if your business partner back stab you?

Our friends and we are business partners for 1 1/2 years. After business have slow down for a few months, They decided to quit at the begining of the August. They resigned on August 6. Their reason is because they wanted to go on themselves to become our competitor. And since they own the building, they want us to move out by Friday August 10. We kinda knew that they were going to quit in August and we knew we we're going to move out, but we didn't think that they're going to kick us out that soon. We had to rush and find another office and would have to settle whatever is out there. Our new office is not ready yet, so because we have to turn our keys in, we move our office supplies and furniture in our garage temporary. They told us they are making ways for us if we should fail our current company. Yeah Right! If that was the case, they wouldn't mind given us 30 days notice. And they even said that we don't need an office and just do it at home instead. What would you do next?

Update:

Oh one thing I forgot, they are related to us too. We didn't need a lease because he was the landlord and the tenant all together. They are our regional Manager and we are somewhat their branch manager. But now that they quit, our co-founder promote us to regional manager. Maybe it happen for a reason. Maybe they are not meant to be in the picture.

May I humbly suggest this. And this is something that both Frank Sinatra and Vanessa Williams said.

    SUCCESS IS THE BEST REVENGE.

    Go on and SUCCEED.

My experience learned the hard way is to keep family and friends out of the mix. at least until the business is off the ground. partners that are also family or friends often times think they can do whatever they want because they are in good with the other party involved. as sure as friends and family will be the first to tell you your wasting your time, and try to derail you, as partners its sometimes worse. oh, boy did i learn the hard way. build your business first, take steps to make sure your in charge, especially if your doing all the work. then you will be in a far better position to dictate terms should you decide to bring friends or family into it. I plan to bring my children into my auction business, but NOT before i have everything worked out and running smooth. its alot harder doing everything on your own, but should the worst happen, you have already proven to yourself that you can. and even with regular employees, friends are friends, business is business. iam sure by now you know all this, but i definately sympathise with your situation. sounds like you need a good attorney and some new friends, I know I did....good luck.

Long before this happened, you should have had comprehensive business insurance, because it is not like this is an unusual unexpected turn of events.

Is there a lease of some kind for the office space that they are kicking you out of? You should be able to have your business attorney figyt that in court to give you 90 days to relocate.

Also have the lawyer review your partnership agreement ... this action sounds to be in violation of any reasonable agreement. They should be paying you half the value of the company to buy out.

There is a very valuable lesson to learn. #1. Always, talk to a lawyer. They would have advised you and non-compete clause in your agreement. Buy-sell agreements. Secure a lease on the property, as the owners of the business( all of you) and owners of the property are not the same. It seems that you are more emotionally hurt than financially. Take it as the cheapest lesson you have learned and always, in the future, talk to an attorney. You may have some legal recourse against them. Good luck with your business.

hi Lisa Superbeagle provides some stable suggestion. became there a partnership contract drawn up while the corporate began? it extremely is the excellent beginning place in any dispute. in the journey that your husband's better half may well be shown to be mentally risky, there is then a criminal question over his skill to flow into into contracts in the corporate. by way of coping with shoppers and persevering with in the partnership he continues to be coming into into contracts. As Superbeagle says, verify along with your solicitor what's occurring and weigh up what the possibly consequence is going to be as against how lots you are going to ought to place into the case. And, confident, locate out as quickly as conceivable if all the tax and national insurance concerns are as much as this point.
