In baking can I replace some butter with nut butter?
For baking cookies, if I want a nuttier flavour can I just replace some butter with nut butter?
I don't want them too greasy, or too dry, so that's why I'm asking.
Thanks in advance.
There's a couple reasons I don't just add in the nuts. First I want to boost the overall nutrition, second I want a greater depth of flavour than I can't achieve with just the nuts alone, especially hidden depth in smooth baked goods, and third so I can make baked goods that have nuts that have an even deeper nut flavour.

Why not simply add nuts or crushed nuts to the batter and keep the rest of the recipe the same.

Yes, you can replace with nut butter. You may also want to add in some hazel nut/almond or walnut into your mixture. You will need to experiment with the amount of nut butter to get the result you want (start with the same amount as the butter).

I would not recommend it. Peanut butter (the "oiliest" nut butter I know of) is only about 50% fat while butter is nearly 80%. In baking proportions are quite important so I don't think it would work out too well.
