Getting a power converter in Australia for the USA?
We are off the USA at the end of the month and will be taking our digital camera and laptop computer with us. Of course the power in Australia is a different voltage than the power in the USA and we will need a converter to, well, convert the power so we can use them. I called the largest dutyfree shop in Sydney and they said they only sell converters to change the plug size NOT the power (what good is what I tell you). Does anyone know where I can get one from? If we can't charge our laptop computer battery and our digital computer battery we are pretty much stuffed as we will be away for 7 weeks.
Thanks.

I don't know where you are located, but if in Tassie Dick Smith's carries them. Also when you get to the US you can go to a Radio Shack (they are located all over) and they will have them. You can also look on ebay.com.au and might be able to find one. As I had the opposite problem (US to Oz) I was told and it appears to work as all of my appliances (hair dryer, lap top etc work well and have for 2 years) that if the appliances are rated a 240W they will work and only need a plug converter. Check it out to make sure though
