Is UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon being bribed by the PRC?

Ban rejected the application of Taiwan to the UN (without due process) on the grounds of UN resolution 2757; which gave the ROC's UN seat to the PRC. What he did would have made sense if the application were filed under the name ROC. But 2757 applies to China, not Taiwan. But then Ban went on to say that it is the opinion of the UN that Taiwan is part of China! Do you think they paid him to say that?

I would hope that the US will set him straight to the fact that Taiwan is neither PRC nor ROC territory. It is most definitely US territory from the San Francisco Peace Treaty in 1952 untill today.

It would be most helpful if President Chen Shui-bian would write a really detailed letter to the US Secretary of State (with a copy to the US Secretary of Defense) outlining the facts of the matter, and saying that he was planning to "dissolve" the Republic of China on [such and such a date], so the US military should get ready.

There is really no use in continuing to pretend that Taiwan is qualified to enter the United Nations. It clearly is not. Taiwan is occupied territory of the United States of America. In other words, it is an overseas territory of the United States, under the jurisdiction of the United States Military Government (USMG). The post-war San Francisco Peace Treaty spells this out in detail.

The Republic of China on Taiwan is merely a (1) subordinate occupying power, beginning Oct. 25, 1945, and a (2) government in exile, beginning mid-December 1949.

The overseas Taiwanese activist groups in the United States should really get busy communicating this true information to the members of Congress. The sooner Taiwan's true status under the US Constitution is revealed, the better.

The PRC being a permanent member of the security council is one of the most disruptive and damaging parts of the UN. They've got an agenda and a chip on their shoulder that does a lot to make the UN dysfunctional. I have yet to make up my mind whether Ban Ki-moon is just illiterate about the Taiwan issue or if there is something more sinister at work. Either choice is damning of Ban. My guess is that Ban is getting some advantage in selling out Taiwan. It's just lucky that the UN is so useless, so not much real damage can be done.

The PRC is definitely in a full scale diplomatic assault against the ROC. They take any opportunity, no matter how small, to belittle the ROC. Their latest was to convince Venezuela to deny the ROC little leaugers visas so they couldn't compete in the world cup. Is that low enough for you?

The PRC is also in a diplomatic war against the US. Their constant maneuvering on the Taiwan issue is seriously annoying. I am sure that the PRC knows the truth of Taiwan's status as an unincorporated territory of the US military government but they're step by step whittling away at public perceptions of the issue. The time has come for the US to come clean with the truth.

Well, the UN is gutless so, what do you expect? And it is going to take a lot of effort by Taiwan to get out of the reach of China's government, they need to keep fighting to get away though and hopefully they will.
