What Tours Should I Take or Places Should I Visit If I'm in Munich for 2 days??

I'm in Munich, Germany

for 2 days. What shouldn't I miss?? And Which Hotel Is Conveniently Located For This Miss Nots?

Appreciate it. Thanks.

Update:

Would appreciate it if the hotel is 'reasonable' and very close to economical eat-outs (my father is accompanying me, and he's on crutches. So the closer, the better).

You must check out Mikes Bike Tours. It is a tour company run by an american. All tours are in English and are well done. Do not try to run around Munich by yourself, as you will waste a lot of time. The tours are well run, and priced low. They have a tour to Neuschwanstein as well.

If you are only there for 2 days, this is your best bet. They have brochures, maps, and suggestions for good restaurants.

Check them out online at http://www.mikesbiketours.com/

Also, there is an information desk inside the Hauptbahnhof (Central Train Station) for english speaking tourists. It is not easy to find, unless you know it is there. It is called the EurAide office.

    Information can be found here:http://www.euraide.de/munich.html.

Some of my favorite places in Munich are the Glockenspiel, the Olympic Village, the Deutchesmuseum (the largest technical museum in Europe), Old Pinakothek museum (built 1826–36), the Bavarian National Museum (built 1894–99), the Schack-Galerie, the Glyptothek (built 1816–30), Chiemsee , Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady), Theatinerkirche, St. Michael's Church, Nymphenberg Castle, the large English Garden (laid out 1789–1832), and the beerhall (Ratskeller) where the Nazi putsch took place. Also, just a few easy miles away south of Augsburg, in Fussen, is Neuschwanstein Castle, which is not to be missed on a trip to Bavaria. Munich is right at the base of the Alps, and you are within easy striking distance of Garmisch, Bertchesgarten, etc. Overall, I think the Bavarian area around Munich is some of the prettiest in the world for its type.

I fear that I cannot help you too much on the hotels. There is a Holiday Inn downtown that is pretty highly rated, but it has been a while since I was there and hotels do change. You might want to consider a Pension (sort of a bed and breakfast) rather than a specific hotel.

Hope that this helps, and I hope that you have a wonderful experience!

Glockenspiel, the Residenze, and Dachau Concentration camp...there's lots to see...with your hotel they may have tours that you can take to see many different things. Neuschwanstein & Hohenschwangau castles are beautiful but going there on a tour will take you away from Munich for a day, so that's up to you.

    HI,

most budget hotels are located near central station (Hauptbahnhof). They offer anything from dormitories to single or double rooms with private bath.

The main attractions like Marienplatz, Königsplatz, Stachus, Deutsches Museums are also located quite near to central station or can be easily reached from there by tram, bus or underground.

Eating can be quite expensive, but you will also find cheap eateries (mostly fastfood like burgers or kebap) scattered around.

You can also get nice sandwiches at any of the many bakeries and butchers for a quick snack during day.
