Which city/state is more full of themselves -- NYC or CA?
Okay....I have inlaws in California and the company I work for is headquartered in NY. It amazes me how when you talk to someone from either group, they think where they live is the greatest place on earth and everywhere else is either a bunch of hillbillies or non-signifigant. I live in Chicago and both groups act like people run around here in overalls and no shoes, having sex with their cousins.
For those of you who have had similar experiences, which group is worse? The West coast or the East coast?
Vote now because I'd love to share the results with them.

I find that the people in between tend to be more annoying because they seem to have some kind of inferiority complex.

I'm a CA native and a current (Brooklyn) NY resident. And it is SO city-dependent. I'd say that LA is the most superficial of all, NY (Manhattan) thinks it's most cultured, and San Francisco thinks it's most progressive. I'd agree that CA & NY both place themselves in the upper ranks of places to live...I think that's a function of all the culture and attractions in both places as well as simple geography--being located on the coasts. I'll always love California. Always. But I'm loving it here in New York and will probably stay for quite a while. I've been to Chicago though, and I absolutely fell in love with your city. So tell your relatives that you live in a pretty darn awesome place too!

Hi! I was born in California -- lived and travelled to many regions of the U.S. and other countries. I love both East and West coast areas! Best wishes!

CA because we have great weather, dry weather, palm trees, beaches, valleys, mountains, snow in the mountains, beautiful islands, Hollywood, The Bay Area, San Diego, Vegas and Mexico a few hours away, tons of amusement parks, lots of sunshine, minimal rain (although we really need it sometimes), diversity of people and cultures, etc., i can go on and on. Do you blame us??
And no i don't consider Chicago hillbillyish, on the contrary it seems like a huge city that i would love to visit one day!

It's all about the West Coast .
California as the sun, beach, babes, and Hollywood! We've got everything!

The West Coaster are more full of themselves, but New Yorkers are very loyal to their city. I prefer New Yorkers - they are upfront and honest and demand good service. Californians are so "have a nice day" phoney and SLOW!!!! It is very frustrating for East Coasters who are use to a faster pace and getting things done.

Yes, I agree with you...They just don't realize how stupid that is. Oh, well I am not going to do anything bad, but I am sure there is a lot of other folks who are willing to do bad things.

New Yorkers are down to earth and that I love; so I would have to say that the Californians are the ones (of the two choices) more 'full of themselves'.
