An English word for 'starting a career' ?

Hi,

I was just wondering if theres any 'big' words, or 'small' words would do, for 'Starting a career' or similar meanings.

Thank you very much

starting a career is good enough. its honest and straightforward.

in writing cover letters and resume, the career ad is the best reference on what types of words to choose.

    good luck!

    ermm.... beginning a new job??

Although come to think of it, I think people talk about "launching a career", or "embarking on a (new) career". These, however, sound quite pretentious to me, and I still prefer "beginning/starting a new job".
