How many people believe china is trying to harm or destroy us by selling deficient and defective products ?

With the recalls from cat and dog food, tires, and now lead based paint and choking parts on toys sold to our children. It is obvious that the United States should ban all trade with China.

But in reality it will never happen because so many products that we use everyday are imported from there. I have been making a conscience effort to check labels and tags to see where a product comes from and do try to buy American when at all possible. Does anybody else feel this way also?

well you have a sort of point, the first time it happened a few years back I thought hmmmmmmm mistake and thought no more about it, then it happened again and again and AGAIN, so now I am at the point of WTF...........it just seems to many things are not coming up to par from this country.

Maybe it is more that there actual rules within the country are far to lax BUT maybe the USA should sort of hold onto their stuff at the docks WHILST tests are being done.at their COST and see if that starts producing a better control of what the goods are like BEFORE they hit the shelves of the USA.

What worries me is what other countries are being hit with the substandard stuff that does NOT have the stringent testing that the USA has in place......

Either way this needs to STOP and maybe it should be held at the docks and tested before our kids / pets etc get even more harmed.

I don't think China is trying to harm Americans. That would not be financially prudent. Our country buys so much from them that if we never bought from China again we would put them in an economic tailspin. It is really hard to buy just American these days. Our coporations are all about the buck and it is cheaper to outsource then to make things here. Do a test. I went in to a well known department store and spent a couple of hours looking at all product. I came up with 16 different countries as the manufacturers and not one was the US. I found this to be interesting. I think trade is good, but it is getting out of control. I don't think we should ban trade with anyone, but just regulate better. Our country would have problems too if we banned trade. A huge part of our society depend on the trade we do with other countries.

Suddenly China has gone from a good manufacturer to a bad one, just about overnight? WTF?

The smoke and mirrors game is on. Mattel Toys probably had a contract with ONE company in China, and that company, under pressure from Mattel cut costs as much as they could to keep their margin afloat. Now Mattel Toys is paying the price for being jerks.

    The same with pet food

    Human food

    Medicine

Which doesn't take into account the thousands of other products that doesn't get a whisper of attention by our government or the media.

Such as computer and their parts

    Cars and their parts

    Airplanes and their parts

    Clothing and textiles

    Heavy equipment and their parts

    Trucks and their parts

Hell, the list is frigging endless.

    Peace

It is communism *** capitalism at its finest. The entire system is set up to make a few very wealthy; as well as a 'greenhouse' (pun intended) for corruption.

The chinese flooded great expanses of thier people's land without a second thought to build their big dam. They use their large labor pool to make things cheap (to sell to us) and they do not give a whit about what they do either to the environment or to the users of their products.

I see where 'some' in d.c. are saying: 'well, if they would just have more regulation; (as we have) they wouldn't be putting out products that can, catch fire easily, be swallowed by tots, are painted with lead based paints or that have inherent engineering flaws'. Bull butter !! And a 'strawman' argument. They aren't regulated and they aren't going to allow regulation to be endorsed. And why should they, they have a buyer with very deep pockets (wal mart, read, the world, but especially u.s. of a.) and our regulatory history is replete with corruption, monopoly's, the deregulation process and so on.

So, it's is not that they want to harm us. They just don't care.

Actually i think its about the All Mighty Buck. Companies like Mattel tell them produce this product for us at the lowest cost possible no matter what.

Lead paint is cheaper. Lead paint is not illegal in China. So they use what is cheap.

lol?? What missile technology does USA have that China doesnt have already? China can build ICBMs of range 15000km+, and has one of the world's most advanced space technology( other than Russia, and USA). Mind you, China can also build MIRVs along with the new SYBMs. I don't think China needs USA's missile technology

They have already executed a man that was in charge of making sure that their product was not defective. I don't think they are out to hurt us. Another has committed suicide because of his involvement in defective products. This is an insult to their culture and China will see to it that those responsible are swiftly dealt with.

I don't believe that they are deliberately trying to sell us bad goods. They are making very poor business decisions right now. Their strive to make products so cheaply has caused them to cut a lot of corners where they shouldn't have been cut.

I have been paying more attention to labels, and trying a little harder to avoid Chinese goods. Until they sort all their problems out, I'd rather play it safer and buy goods from elsewhere, and buy US produced goods if possible.

I believe the US is harming itself for relying on China for so many things. I dont think China is trying to directly harm us because we have been importing China's merchandise for years and nothing like this has happened.

  • 1 decade ago

why would they? we are one of the big buyers...

but i doubt they want to harm us deliberately, they just trying to make money cheaply and plus we make bad business decisions by allowing in the defective products...its goes both ways. its not like they are shoving them into our mouths.
