Does anyone have a 2002 Mercury Cougar? If so, what kinds of problems have you had with it?

I had a Cougar years ago, but just want to let you know that Consumer Reports puts out a book every year that has all makes and models of cars listed, and what the problems each has encountered. I've used this as a guide when buying used cars. You can find it at the library.

As to what Luvbug says about her check engine light...I have an '01 Maxima and my check engine light goes off and on about every tank and a half of gas. It tends to stay on longer and more consistently when I use no name gas.

i had the xr type, at one point the gas guages go out and surprise! youre out of gas but wouldnt have known it because your guage said you were fine. I had a tow truck guy come and get me because i had no idea what was wrong with it, he said, oh youre out of gas. i was like WTF?! it isnt even anywhere near empty! he said yeah, this car does that, everytime they send me out to get a mercury cougar, 9 times out of 10 its out of gas.

so thats a minor annoyance.

also, the check engine light went on at about 85,000 miles but no one can find anything wrong with it.

EGR valve had to be replaced also about the same time.

oh and it hat very poor gas mileage
