You can use the bible to prove the bible in this sense...... The bible is not one book written during a short time span by one person. It is a compilation of 66 little books written over a span of about 1500 or more years by about 30 different writers. Of course you can compare a prophecy regarding the birth of Jesus written 1000 years in advance.

I'll give you an example: Jesus birth was prophecied so specifically that it names precisely where he was born. Every says he was born in Bethlehem. Did you know that there were two towns by that name and that the Bible correctly prophecied which of the two he would be born in... Bethlehem Ephratha?

No, of course not. It just proves that the whole thing is *made up*.

Some guy in the Old Testament writes something that could be interpreted as a prophecy that the Messiah will be born in Bethlehem.

Then, 1000 years later when someone else is making up stories about his Messiah, he remembers the original 'prophecy' and thinks "aha, I'd better make him be born in Bethlehem".

    How does that prove anything?

If Jesus had actually made any prophecies, and they'd been unequivocally fulfilled, then it might go some way towards proving something about the Bible, but first you need to show me that he ever prophesised anything specific and then you need to show me that it happened the way he said it would.

when one looks at prophesies for today written by ancient prophets long ago, and one realises that modern man still dosent know whats round the corner, i would say very definatly yes,if i want to know whats going to happen i would not consult the politician , it would be the writings of the prophets, they are well in advance.

    Like what?

If you use the bible to prove the bible, then it's not very convincing.

Let's say Jesus prophesied the man who will betray him dipped his bread into the sauce at the same time as Jesus. Then it came true. Both written in the bible though, which isn't the least convincing.

Sorry you can't prove the bible with the bible, I could then prove Tinkerbell exists by holding up Peter Pan.
