How 2 find a PC hotspot?

I'm thinking of getting a laptop and need to use it while traveling,other than leaving it on how do I find a "hotspot" I've googled hotspots in my local city and came up with loads of nightclubs.While this information is very useful its not what I need.

    In major cities now there are more and more hotspots so it is not too difficult to find them. I know what you mean though about finding a list of them so you know exactly where you can use your computer. Around Train stations, schools,Hotels and even Travel Lodges are good areas to be around.
