why is colgate toothpaste offensive to the spanish?

i know the answer but curious to know if anyone else does. when colgate toothbrush tried to launch their product in spain they had great difficulty, why best answer to the first one who gets it. if u wanna know the answer then message me

    In Spanish, Colgate is a comanly used toothpaste... But i see a reason that you would think that the product would be offensive. Because in spanish, "Cuelgate" means go hang yourself. But Colgate is a little different so many ppl here don't take it that way.

    Is it because the stripes are in the colours of the Basque Separatists ? Plus of course there have been reports of fake Colgate in Spain and Italy.
