make it fun
my husband and i go for nice romantic strolls in the park. we have a big on next to us so its fun
we also go to the gym and work out together and see who sweats first he always wins. make it fun

Make it fun by making fun challenges of it, like at the end of each week the one who loses the most weight gets to be pampered that weekend in whatever way they like. Or at the end of each month treat yourselves to a romantic evening out. Or get some index cards and if you exercised that day or who won the weekly challenge gets to pick a card with something fun you both can do together, wink wink.
Just remember to add cardio exersices also, one of the best and most effective cardio exersice is to go for walks. If it is hot like where I live go to a store or a mall that you can just walk through and you'll be amazed how good you both will feel just after a week of being committed to this and after a month other people will definately see the results.
Just remember that eating correctly and having the correct portion sizes along with exercising are the most important things to losing and keeping off the weight. Also only weigh yourself once a week the other days use a tape measure to see your results. Also remember that the first weight you lose is water weight and then you will gain for a while because musle weighs more than fat, that is why you do not want to weigh yourself to often. I think it is great that you want to do this as a team, it is a well known fact that when you have a team mate the weight comes off faster and you are able to do this long term.

Good luck to you, I have lost over seventy pounds with this method before I gotten sick and have had several surgeries over the last nine months. So for I have lost ten pounds in a month with the eating because the exercising is still slow but imporoving due the extreme pain I am in. So if I can lose weight being limited anyone can if they follow my advise. This will be my fourth time at losing weight, the first time was after giving birth to my last child, the second time was when I put the weight back on after losing three family members in less than a year, the third time was when I put on the weight after a bad accident where I almost broke my neck, and now when I am going to beat this rare, painful and encurable disease I am fighting, but I am doing it alone as am seeing results.

Constantly remind each other how hideously fat you are! Wait that's my wife.
But seriously, a buddy team always works better. Make a schedule - at this time on these days (3-4 per week) we exercise - period, regardless of what's on TV, regardless of whose mother calls - PERIOD!!! If somebody is on the phone, they say "sorry, we have to exercise now" you hang up and then you go do it!

Just start out slowly. take walks, buy some dumbbells. when you start to see results it will motivate you. My wife and i gained quite a bit of weight in our state of wedded bliss. we have each lost around 30 lbs. my wife looks so much more attractive that it is easy for me to motivate her, and she loves my new muscles. don't give up. also we have had good success on the South Beach Diet. Don't give up you will feel so much better.

There is a book called,"Marathon and Half Marathon", Marnie Caron, that will help motivate you. It is a beginners guide to running a half or full marathon. They have other books in your local bookstore that allow you to walk the same distances. So, pick up a book and get on the track.:)

Exercise together so you can encourage each other even when you don't want to do it. You won't want to let your spouse down. You may want to schedule a specific time to exercise no matter what. After a while it will become a habit and you won't feel right if you DON"T exercise.

write a list of all the cons of being overweight and then another of the positive results you gain from losing weight. other motivations for me is looking good for the swimsuit season. i dont want to wear these ugly bathing suits anymore. also, an ex friend of mine called me fat, so i want to show that bi*ch. lol. so you go ahead and do it.

Find something that you like to do -- try different things. Hiking, geocaching is a great new hobby that people are getting into it involves hiking and treasure hunting.

look at fat people, then put your face there. that's how I motivate dental hygene...NO! not fat people...rottennoteethpeople....

also go over your life's goals. Then realize those will fall short because youre gonna die of a cholestoral hbp heart attack if you don't ride your bike more. feel the burn!!
