It looks as though someone shaved my cat?

He only has short hairs on his belly between his legs. No long ones(he used to have long ones). What do you think caused this?

Did someone actually shave my cat? Why would someone do this?

Is it some sort of skin disease or parasite?

Update:

It looks fine, besides the part where there are only short hairs.

He has licked out his hair. My cat started in this spot and has now licked off every spot he can reach. Have your vet test him for allergies- could be food, grass, pollen, etc.

My cat turned out to NOT be allergic to everything we tested for and is apparently neurotic. I use an Elizabethan collar on him when he gets obsessive with it, otherwise I use a lot of Bitter Apple.

It could be a skin disease or parasite. I cant imagine why someone would shave your cat, but there are some weirdos out there. Is the skin blotchy and flaky, sore or bleeding etc? If it is then it could well be a disease or parasite.

I think you should take your cat to the vets so they can take a look, better safe than sorry.

If you can, post a photo so we can see what it looks like.

From the photo, it looks like he's been washing off the hair. That indicates itching.

Have the vet check for skin diseases and allergies. Buy a flea comb to check for fleas and lice.
