Nokia LCD screen doesn't work. Humidity a problem?

I was walking outside with slightly damp pants with my Nokia phone in my pocket. The screen now fails to work - the backlight seems to be on so a current must be passing through the screen, and the phone emits the welcome chime when turned on, but no screen image. BTW I am in Tonga (think tropical weather and salty air), but no I did not immerse or splash my phone. Any ideas if the screen will fix itself up, or any ideas at all?

Hmmm you're in Tonga? Got a spare room?

I would say try just turning it off and letting it dry inside for a couple of days.

If it's a flip phone then it might be a wire. There could be sound coming from one half of the phone so the sounds work- but no screen because a wire from one side to the other isn't connected. Also, those screens are liquid crystal. Now I've seen LCD clocks go black on hot days! They sort of melt. The one on my car dashboard ( a stick on one) would do that. If you ran a finger over the screen - voila!- the numbers reappeared. So if the screen is black try that - your finger is a lot cooler than the screen so it cools it down.
