What are these things?

It looks like a centepde its gray has like more than eight legs and it runs fast...oh the face part has long attentannas. I think whenyou kill themwith water they swivel up. Does anyone know this type of pest.

    They are pretty much harmelss. If you find one in the house sweep it up in the dust pan and throw it out in the garden.

    It will be happier there.

    You kill them? These are harmless detritus feeders, usually hide from daylight, and their name starts with an X. About an inch and a half long, right? They are not many left, but people don't understand the role of most things in an ecosystem. So destroying the few that you see may have far reaching implications. Conserve, do not kill...
