I installed Messenger and cannot change the preference from dial-up to LAN in order to use the service. Help?

I am using Windows XP.

    un install messenger then reinstall

    to uninstall :click start>controll panel>add or remove

    click on messenger and then click delete.

    first of all you did not say what messenger you ae using MSN or Yahoo or skype? you need to go to "connection" in preference and change from dial up to LAN setting.

    IF YOU CAN'T OPEN MESSENGER, TRY UNINSTALLING AND REINSTALLING. USE A NEW SCREEN NAME TO LOG IN.

    IF YOU CAN OPEN MESSENGER AND GET TO PREFERENCES, THEN CLCIK ON CONNECTION AND YOU WILL SEE WHERE THE CHOICES ARE FOR CONNECTION MODES.

    don't feel bad, i enter united states, hit ok and apply, go back to check and it says antiqua.........go figure............
