Since Yahoo chat is all messed up, is there another chat server that is any good?

Not that I have seen. I am sure the Yahoo programmers are trying to fix this automatic room issue. It was a good idea, as you would force all the "bot chatters" into the first few rooms, but it leaves the rest of us "regular chatters" in the cold trying to find out where our friends are. I don't think this upgrade was tested correctly before implementing.
The other chat servers I have visited do not offer local chatrooms, and you could searching for a familiar person for "monthes" before you found someone even close to local.
This is the biggest spoof I have heard of from previous yahoo problems.
