County Limerick is nice, but the public transport in the county is not the best. It's a very rural place, and while there are lots of foreigners coming in to live and work there, the local accent takes some getting used to. It takes time to get to know people, and you have to make the effort also, but it's worth it. A great way to get to know local people is to find out where the nearest set-dancing classes are on, and join them. The teacher and students at the one in the Ballintemple Inn in Newcastle West are particularly welcoming, although this doesn't take place until the autumn.

By the way, other answerers are all wrong about Bunratty Castle, as it's in County Clare. Close to Limerick city, and well worth a visit, but the question is about County Limerick.

Well the city is small enough (compared to other countries)

There is not a lot to do in the city but the county itself is gorgeous.

Adare village is known as being one of most beautiful villages in ireland full of thatched cottages, plenty of traditional pubs, friendly people and the streets are almost spotless.

Plenty of scenery, full of beautiful villages, nice city for the shopaholic...and a hurling team that is in the All-Ireland final in September!

Yes, in 1970. I was 10. I don't remember much and I'd be willing to bet it has changed quite a bit. The only thing I truly remember is King John's Castle in the "city" of Limerick (I just checked, and at 90,000 it would be a large-sized town in Texas.
