Voting your own answer as the best answer?

Apparently if a question you've answered goes to a vote you're able to vote for your own answer. If that's true, have you ever voted for your own answer? And if you've never done it, would you ever consider it?

Update:

Can I just add that I personally don't think it's wrong to vote for your own answer. I just wondered if anyone had.

To vote for your own answer I would think you'd have to wait for the question to go to a vote then simply vote for your own answer. I don't vote for on many questions but I do know you can't see who gave which answer until after you've voted, so I expect you'd have to hope you could remember which one was yours!

Update 2:

Thank you for thumbing down the answers for no reason Phantom Thumb-downer, what a hero you are. Not.

If you've gone to the trouble of answering a question and then the questioner is discourteous enough to let it go to the public vote rather than be bothered to select an answer for him/herself, I think we're entitled to vote for our own answer - let's face it, that one point could just sway the vote ! ! !

nope, until eventually i run in the process it if i take place to be contained in the vote casting section. i in lots of circumstances not at all flow back to a query that i've got responded until eventually now until eventually i think of that's truly interesting.

Surely the whole point of this community is to get answers!

If you can't decide which answer is best for you.. you put it to vote..then the person with the most points get the votes!

FFS..instead of it being about points (and people getting points for their own answers).. can't it simply be about helping others!!!

Go on..try it..you might like it!

If you don't vote for you own answer as best answer then somebody else will vote for his or her own answer as best so is just as well that you vote for your own.

However I think that to be fair you should only vote your own answer as best if you really think that is the best. If you see a better one than you should vote for that. Or you may leave to the voters.

I've certainly done it a number of times. Why not?

You get a point for voting and, if no-one else bothers, you get 10 points for best answer, too!

    I do too.

The only time I wouldn't vote for mine is if in my original answer I credited one of the answers above with being right / spot on.

I always vote for the best answer - and the best answer is always my own answer...

How can it be wrong to choose the best answer?

Plus I put my name in all my answers so I can find it easy when it comes to voting!
