You already received some good suggestions, but I just wanted to say that I am Bipolar and my daughter, age 19, is also Bipolar.

I wouldn't be able to manage my depression without counseling and medication.

Here is a website for a Bipolar Support Group that I find very helpful:

I have bipolar 1 and was also recently diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. I have EXTREME mood swings and I was switching daily, even having midday and even as quick as hourly mood changes, but that is all due to the Borderline personality disorder. Now that I'm medicated I feel 100% better!!! There is a Bipolar for Dummies book out that was very good. You can try your local library and check out a few books and find the best one and then later make a purchase. Good luck with the bipolar and don't give up, its a bumpy road!!!!

Source(s): Bipolar for 16 yrs. A book is a good step in understanding bipolar which in turn can help you in the long run!!

A book want help! You need some medication or try to deal with it on your own. I have dealt with people with bi- polar disorder for a very long time and a book is defiantly not the answer. There are many prescription that do not have to many side effects and they will help with your mood swings and help you live a more normal life.
