Goldens were bred for hunting water fowel however they do alos chase squirrels and rabbits. I have Goldens too, 2 big males.. I think they will look at the ferret as prey and try to chase it too.

I would say YES . The golden Is a hunting dog with pray drive ,
This dose not mean you could not teach your dog to except the ferret as a family member .
Always be present when the dog is in the room with the ferret
, Never take your eyes off the dog and ferret .
Supervise all interaction and be firm with the dog if he try to nip or chase the ferret.
Dogs are pretty good at learning who is a family member so once he knows the ferret is a pack member he may be OK . good luck

maybe you should find a ferret rescue in your area and pick out the ferrt that catchs your eye and before you bring it home bring your dogs in to see if they do weel all together.
Then if they get along good at that shelter bring the ferret home and keep him in the cage for couple of days because the dogs will act different when the ferret is on the dogs turf!
But take this into serous concideration! But goldens pretty much love any animal that wont attack them first! I have 2 goldens too!
and I have 8 other dogs,3 cats and a rabbit, both my goldens love all my other animals so GOOD LUCK!!

Yes your dogs can attack and kill a ferret. You will have to supervise them at all times. Bring them to a pet shop and watch how they act when they see a ferret. Some animals will get along, especially is they are bought up together as babies, but sometimes nature takes over. Good luck

It really depends on the dog. If your dogs like to generally chase small things then yes, but then again you never know. I have 2 dogs, (a bulldog and a Komondor) and neither have ever bothered my ferrets besides to play with them. For awhile I stayed at my parents house in between moving from one house to our new one, they have 2 coonhounds who routinely chase and kill squirrels, chipmunks, etc, so I was never going to let my ferrets out around their dogs. One day my younger sister had them out, one of them got loose upstairs where the dogs were (my ferrets have no fear since everything else in my house just plays with them) and proceeded to run straight to my parents one coonhounds without any of us knowing. The dog I was SURE would instantly kill my ferrets if she ever got to one of them ended up just smelling her and was playing with the ferret when my sister realized what had happened and went running through the house in a panic looking for it. We still didn't let them together much and definately not unsupervised but just to let you know that you never know what might happen. Try finding a friend with a ferret or a rescue that might let you bring your dog to see how things go.
