What DIY disasters have you had, I managed to put a screwdriver through my thumb yesterday, it's agony?

I electrocuted myself once, it didn't do any lasting damage, just knocked me onto my back and hurt like hell :(

You could graft the screwdriver into the hole, you may need to remove the handle to its not too cumbersome and then you'll be very handy indeed, like gadgetmoose2000, later adding other tools of choice.

I don't know about disasters, but I almost killed myself digging fence post holes once. I later learned that where I had the auger machine digging away there was an underground very high voltage line and it would've killed me if I'd hit it.

Lesson learned, call a utility locate before you dig, I was stupid and lucky not to die for it.

oh! I cut/ burn my finger when I am cooking something and this happens very often.
