Is it bad to not tune your piano?
My sisters recently quit taking piano lessons so now the piano is starting to become off key. They play the piano moderately now but is it bad to keep that piano out of tune and keep playing it. Is it better to just keep the piano tuned even if your not playing it?

You should just keep it tuned. It's not too hard to keep up with. Even if it isn't being played a lot, it's still good for it to be in tune.

It will become really out of tune in a while...if you want to tune it, it could be a little pricey (in the hundreds). My piano is kinda old, so a couple of keys have been broken from not being tuned. So I think...you should tune it once if you're not playing it.

The only reason that it is out of tune is because time and conditions, such as heating and cooling are affecting the wood and placement of the hammers on the keys. It is not BAD, persay if it is out of tune (unless you don't like hearing "off" notes!!), but just make sure you still take care of it and have someone check on it every now and then to be sure the wood isn't warping and the hammer pads aren't wearing down.
