Make sure you are selecting the correct driver and make sure all of your hardware/bios/chipset drivers are loaded in device manager. Load all other drivers first as the audio driver may need to be loaded last. That site should have the correct driver. Make sure you are selecting the correct information/specs. Try to download the same driver for different windows versions as well, sometime backdated drivers will work better. Good luck hope this helps, cause in your situation, its going to be trial and error to get it to work.

Actually when installing fresh, as soon as you finish the initial stage of installation of the operating system, you should install all drivers missing as displayed in the Device Manager before doing any updates from Microsoft, these include Southbridge drivers, sound card drivers, etc. This way any updates that apply to these drivers can be installed to bring them up to date as well. Here is a link to Realtek's website and their download page which offers the most up to date drivers for the AC97 audio drivers, perhaps one of these will work to correct your problem. http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.... .

lets see if i can help you -- goto control panel --- then to performance and maintenance-- then to system -- then to hardware -- then to device manager -- find your sound device -- click the + sign to open -- if anything is wrong it will have a question mark on it -- right click on the questionmark and update the driver --- hope this help you
