Four to five years is a good bet. Of coarse there are variables such as the weather and growning season and the soil and water. But round about 5 years is a good bet.

I read about this a while ago and I can't remember exactly but I think it was between 5 and 10 years. I also read that the olive branch is seen as a symbol of peace because in classical times (lol, i'm no historian) the olive could only be farmed in areas which weren't threatened by war, because it had to be planted so long in advance of a harvest, and the farmer had to stay in one place.
