I am a teacher, and therefore an not above grabbing my two points by telling you to DO YOUR OWN HOMEWORK. And you have detention with me Tuesday, young lady.

One is amazed at your presumption. Who told you the Babylonians invented the wheel?

Be assured, the wheel was around (No pun intended.) a long time before there were Babylonians on the scene.

It now seems most likely that the wheel was invented in Western Europe, some time before 5000BC.

As for the rest of the question, you are supposed to use your own imagination when doing your homework - not someone elses.

No, the Sumerians invented the wheel (though more likely, the wheel pre-dates civilization.) The Babylonians had not appeared on the scene yet.

Yeah, if this is for homework, you need to do your own damn work. And if your teacher said the Babylonians invented the wheel, you need to correct him/her. He/she is wrong.

Edit: to the below poster, the wheel was not invented in Europe. It was in use in Mesopotamia and Anatolia before 3000 BC.

Let's go the other way and think about how you might function if there were no wheels. Transportation for one - everything would have to be carried as there would be no carts, no wheelbarrows, no bikes, no cars, etc.etc.etc. Then think about processing food - how would you grind grain if there were no wheels? How would you plant, weed, hoe and harvest crops if there were no wheels? And how could you sing that wonderful old Gospel song, Ezikial saw the wheel a'turning, 'way in the middle of the air. A wheel within a wheel a'turning, 'way in the middle of the air. And the big wheel ran by faith, and the little wheel ran by the grace of God, a wheel within a wheel a'turning, 'way in the middle of the air.
