Why can't I use Yahoo IM?

If rebooting (restarting) your computer does not help, then maybe you need to update the Messenger to Version 8.1.0.413 . , or uninstall - reinstall if you already have it.

Yahoo messenger should be updatded as soon as possible because Yahoo! learned of a security issue, commonly referred to as a buffer overflow, in an ActiveX control. Some impacts of a buffer overflow might include the introduction of executable code, being involuntarily logged out of a Chat and/or Instant Messaging session, and the crash of an application such as Internet Explorer.

Click on "Help" at the top right of the messenger, and then click on

"Check for updates", and proceed as directed.

uninstall your IM once and install it again then everything willl be fine.
