Well Robert's potential new GFwas fooled too. She's out there. This increased his chances of contacting her.
Plain English, If more People join, Then more people are there. If his filters are set high, somebody new will eventually match his criteria.

I have been extremely disappointed in online dating, although it has nothing to do with Yahoo. It has more to do with your age group, and the mentality people have about online dating (men more so than women, I believe).
The age group I refer to is the over-40 crowd. These are people who are, for the most part, divorced with children. The women don't want any more children. The men do. Especially if it means hooking up with some 20- or 30-something who HASN'T had children and is looking for an older man to support her. So the 40-something women are left to look to the over-60 crowd, which is fraught with its own set of problems, from erectile dysfunction to bad hearts. I personally don't want some old geezer. I want someone my age.
The other problem is societal. It's the trade-it-in-for something-better mentality. Look at all these new game shows on TV. Shows like "Deal or No Deal," "One in a Million," etc. The contestant has $100,000 cash, but wait! What might be behind that door, or inside that case? It could be something better! We're never satisfied. And with the sheer numbers of people accessing the Internet, there is that false impression that there IS something (or someone) better. Why settle for a woman with slight flaws, when the next one may be absolutely perfect? Well, that's what the ads would have you believe, anyway. Your "perfect match," your "soul mate," the one for you. You can never be sure if this is the one, when there are millions of others just dying to meet you. It IS deceptive, no question about it!

Yahoo! personals is a joke. I managed to "find" someone on the site, and after the first date I suspected something was way wrong. Turns out she was using the site to drum up "business" for her on line porn business. I had a back ground check done on her and it turned out she had a conviction for running an on line brothel. I sent my concerns over to Yahoo about this person, and guess what, they did NOTHING!
